Who you're helping

Gaming & streaming has helped millions of people stay connected in lockdown and ease their feelings of loneliness.

By taking part in Operation Anti-Loneliness, you'll be using your gaming & streaming skills to raise vital funds to support our loneliness work.

Together, we can help people who are feeling isolated and alone stay connected with their friends, family and community.

How your fundraising helps

Graphic of a man sitting on the floor looking at his phone

could pay for a basic smartphone to help an isolated person stay connected during lockdown.

Graphic of a woman walking with a handbag

could provide 10 vulnerable people who are self-isolating with essential supplies.

Graphic of a woman pushing a man on a wheelchair

could fuel 50 of our vehicles, so that we can accompany socially isolated people to community activities where they can meet new friends and build confidence.

If you are feeling lonely, please know that you are not alone. The British Red Cross is here to help you. If you are affected by loneliness or know someone who needs help, please visit https://www.redcross.org.uk/get-help/get-help-with-loneliness.

Here are answers to some of the most frequent questions we get asked:

I've never streamed before, can I still take part?

Of course. We have loads of resources to help you get set up, plus a Discord channel with loads of veteran streamers who will be able to help you out as well.

How do I sign up?

Head over to our Tiltify page here.

What is Tiltify?

Tiltify is a fundraising platform, similar to JustGiving, but with added functionality that integrates well with streaming.

When can I sign up?

Now! The earlier you sign up, the more time you have to prepare your stream.

When should I stream?

Go live with your stream anytime between 26th April - 9th May.

Do I need to do the 5 / 10 / 20 hours all at once?

You're welcome to split the hours out across the period in whatever way suits you. Multiple hours of gaming in a row is a real challenge and should be treated seriously. Only go for it if you are sure it will not pose a risk to your health, and make sure to take plenty of breaks, stay hydrated and get a good amount of rest in before and after the event.

What should I stream?

Whatever you want. Most people stream themselves gaming but the non-gaming streams normally raise more money! It's about getting creative, giving your audience a reason to donate (use incentives!) and having fun.

What games can I play?

Whatever you like (provided you're of the legal age to play the game).

Where can I read more about this?

You can find more info on our website.

How do people donate?

You can share the link to your Tiltify campaign or copy the custom donate URL provided on your campaign overview page.

How do you receive the money?

If you've set up your fundraising event on Tiltify then the money will automatically come to us through there.

How do I raise money?

Check out our fundraising tips for useful guidance on how to make your event a success.

Where does the money go?

Loneliness is a theme which cuts across all of our work so all funds raised will go to supporting our UK work.

Is there a minimum age to get involved?

The minimum age to stream on most platforms is 13. In addition, if you’re between the age of 13 to 18, we ask that you only stream under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by the Terms of Service of the streaming platform you use.

How do I cancel my event?

If you’ve created an event and want to cancel it, simply go to your account dashboard, click on the campaign dashboard, go to the overview section and scroll to the bottom to delete.

Can you promote my event?

We'd love to promote everyone's stream but unfortunately we can't retweet individual events except under special circumstances (e.g. high-profile streamers and events). Check out our event promotion tips for ways to get the word out.

Will my personal information be secure?

Your privacy is our top priority. All data will be handled according to GDPR regulations.
